Families

Hurting teenagers do not often realize the impact their destructive behaviors can have on other members of the family. Too often parents find themselves so focused on the intense needs of their troubled teen that they do not even realize that other members of the family are hurting or resentful. The emotion and energy poured into efforts to help a child that they deeply love can leave other family members feeling isolated and alone.

Teen Lifeline ensures that each hurting adolescent receives ongoing services by going through a thorough assessment process to develop an individualized plan for how they can best be served. The organization not only provides a safe, caring environment where the teenager can share feelings, identify risk factors and develop trust, but it also provides resources and training for the families of hurting teens.

Teen Lifeline recognizes that the dynamic of today’s family unit is as diverse as ever before, but the importance that family unit plays in the successful development of the adolescent is as important today as it was fifty years ago. You are not alone in this journey, and Teen Lifeline wants to help. Based on supported research, our program provides services that seek to equip teens with competency in the following areas:

  • Religious Identity
  • Specific Risk Factors
  • Prosocial Bonding/Concerns
  • Boundaries
  • Life Skills
  • Care & Support
  • Personal Meaning/High Expectations
  • Meaningful Participation

Teen Lifeline seeks to guide adolescents toward meaningful involvement in their school, families and churches. Once competencies have been developed in the teen, they are guided in how those tools can be well used to contribute as well as receive strength from these areas of life. Cell groups provide more in-depth involvement through peer counseling, two-way communication and trust relationships. One-on-one mentoring exposes the teen to positive, adult role models and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. At this point in the program, teens become active participants in restoring past broken relationships as they experience firsthand a life lived better.
