Teen Lifeline Support System
How does TLSS work?
TLSS is involved in your community in four ways. We participate in activities on school campuses and in the COMMUNITY, striving to provide effective help for hurting teens. This starts with ASSESSMENT and helps us know where the teen best fits in TLSS or if another program should be recommended. If we believe TLSS can help, then the teen is invited into our PROGRAM where we seek to provide tools and resources that will help both now and later in their life’s journey. Finally, we seek to send teens out prepared. This may happen in a simple way with a group wrap-up or in a big way with an ending party. Ultimately, our goal is to LAUNCH students back into their everyday life equipped with skills and coping strategies to Live Life Better.
Topic Groups
These groups work on a 7 or 8 week schedule and are for members who are connected by a specific topic. (All groups are for High School students at the present time.)
We also offer these groups for schools and churches on an as needed basis. If you have an issue within your group that needs to be addressed we will happily work with you to form and facilitate a group. Please contact our Program Director, Ricky Lewis, for more information on setting this up.
Grief – This group is designed to assist in dealing with the grief process. Grief can be a result of many types of loss and any student dealing with grief regardless of the reason are welcome to join these groups.
Anger – Whether it is bullying, life stress or an inability to deal with frustrations, anger can make you someone you don’t want to be. If your desire is to regain control, this group is for you.
Teens of Divorce – It doesn’t matter it it was recent or years ago, divorce is a difficult situation to deal with. If your parents have gone through a divorce or are going through one right now, this group is for you.
Alcohol & Drugs – Our substance group is designed specifically for any students who have tried alcohol or drugs and don’t want to go any further using. We also welcome those that have gone through rehab and want a support group that will help them stay away from the negative decisions they have made in the past.
Life Skills - In these groups students will learn about personal resources, self-esteem, ups and downs in life, positive coping skills and more that will enable them to handle what comes up in their life.
Requirements
Cost: We are requesting that you pay a fee of $10 (this is a one time fee not per week) to help offset the cost of hosting these groups. If this is a problem there is financial aid available. Please bring check or cash with you to your first meeting.
Forms: There are two forms you will need to fill out. One online and the other needs to be printed and brought to the first group. The online form is our Behavioral Assessment Form, and the permission form can be printed from this link, Permission PDF.
